Summer Wellness Picks: Our best Summertime recommendations

Summer is finally here and we are loving it! As well as simply boosting your mood, Summer lets you get your Vitamin D. A steady supply of vitamin D has shown to prevent inflammation, improve bone health, improve immunity, create resistance against diseases and slow down ageing. Studies have shown that spending just 30 minutes under the sun, in the lap of nature, could reduce the risk of high blood pressure and depression. To celebrate this wonderful season, we've put together a simple guide with links to show you some of our absolute favourite feel-good products and services.

For your skin...

Skin clinic

Summer is a time for beach days, pool parties, and vacations. It’s also a great time for a skin care makeover.

Longer hours of daylight and hot, dry, or humid weather can affect our skin differently than the colder and darker days of winter.

No. 23 Skin was founded by Helen Wyre and Dr. Cherry Armstrong to create a connected approach to help others reach their skin goals. They offer skin cancer screening and can help with wrinkles, breakouts, dull skin, worrying moles, pigmentation or uncomfortable rashes.

Facial

No. 23 Skin consultations follow a three step plan:

  1. Understand your skin goals. We see a full range of concerns – from clearing a medical condition (such as breakouts, rashes, eczema) to targeting anti-ageing. Usually we find it is a combination of both medical and aesthetic goals that people want help with.
  2. Assess your main skin concern. Your skin goals can be complex. So whilst we start with your main concern, we view your skin holistically to get the best results.
  3. Together, we’ll come up with a personalised plan. Our treatments are all clinically approved and focus on lasting results, meaning you’ll reach your skin goals – and stay there. When it’s possible (and you’re happy to) we will start treatment on the same day as your consultation.

You can follow No. 23 Skin here for more tips on how to look after your skin this Summer (starting with a healthy dose of SPF of course!)

For your tastebuds...

Botivo Non-Alcoholic

Although Summertime is a wonderful season to sit and sip on a nice cold Aperol, sometimes, you may not feel like drinking alcohol.

Botivo is a non-alcoholic aperitif, created using a method that is centuries old. The botanicals are picked and delivered to their farm, where they combine them in precise amounts and let nature do its work. The authentic and complex flavour profile is developed over time and Botivo are proud to have complete traceability to the source of their ingredients.

Ingredients of this wonderful concoction include:

  • Raw Honey Raw
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Gentian
  • Wormwood
  • Rosemary
  • Thyme
  • Orange Zest

Non-alcoholic apertitif

Botivo has zero alcohol, no flavourings, no preservatives and nothing is pasteurised; for them, it has always been important to preserve the natural flavour profile and integrity of well-picked, carefully treated and meticulously paired ingredients.

All ingredients are prepared and bottled on a farm in Hertfordshire and Botivo are committed to buying British where possible, helping to reduce each bottle's carbon footprint.

You can follow Botivo on Instagram here to actually see how their beautiful aperitif is made, find non-alcoholic drink recipes and purchase your own bottle!

For your body...

Wheat Bag Herring

Did you know that our wheat bags and eye pillows can be used to cool your body down during the hotter seasons?

We often associate wheat bags with the colder months; cosying up with them to keep warm and using them to relieve aches and pains. However, wheat bags and eye pillows are incredibly versatile and can be used in the warmer months as a blissful cold pack!

Cooling wheat bag

To use your Wheat Bag or Eye Pillow this Summer, simply place your item into a container or freezer bag and leave in the freezer for at least an hour.

When you take it out, it will be ready to use immediately and will provide instant cooling bliss!

For your feet...

Badger Foot Balm

Badger are makers of organic body care. If your feet need a little extra care, you could try rubbing in a little Badger Foot Balm. The concentrated base of olive oil, castor oil, and beeswax is rich enough to soften even the driest cracked heels, while essential oils of tea tree, peppermint, and rosemary leave your feet feeling tingly-cool, invigorated and refreshed.

Badger products are inspired by the needs of friends, family, and community. They work directly with an internal 'product champion' who represents the inspiration and who provides personal feedback on products as they formulate them.

This close personal connection helps them to put their values first and foremost throughout the product development process.

Badger Suncream

And whilst we're back on the topic of skin care this Summer...

Badger also create sun protection with naturally occurring antioxidants that protect from free radical damage, blue light, and environmental stressors—leaving your skin soft, nourished, and glowing.

Every formula is safe for coral reefs, manufactured with 100% solar power, and certified cruelty-free.

All badger sun protection uses mineral zinc oxide; the safest active ingredient available for effective broad-spectrum protection.

You can see all of Badgers wonderful products here and you can find out what their up to via their Instagram page here.

For your soul...

Wild Soul Yoga

What could be more blissful than a practising a yoga session outside on a warm Summer's evening?

Sarah, of Wild Soul Yoga, has been teaching yoga since 2017 and now runs outdoor yoga classes throughout the Summer at her home in Herefordshire.

She believes that yoga is a special practice to weave into your life, no matter who you are, what you do or how bendy you are. It has the power to ripple out into the everyday, your relationships, work, and more. It is always there to come back to.

Wild Sould Yoga

In the summer, we suggest allowing for a spacious Savasana. Air out the groin and armpits by extending your arms and legs so that they are wider than the width of your mat. Make sure your palms are face up. Cover the eyes with a cool Eye Pillow or Wheat Bag. Soften into the earth and allow 10 full minutes for rest and integration.

Sarah offers evening classes but also private tuition. You can see all the options here.

We wish you a wonderful Summer season for 2022 filled with long Summer evenings, wellness and feel-good memories. If you have anymore questions about how to use our products this season, please feel free to get in touch :)
