When used according to instructions the Wheat Bag should not burn.
If the wheat pack is not rehydrated as per instructions it may slowly dry out over time and start to emit a cooked/burnt smell.
The most common reason for a wheat bag to burn is either by overheating after the wheat dries out, or the microwave turntable is prevented from rotating correctly.
When the turntable cannot move the radiation heat energy will be concentrated on a single area which can cause a burn on the fabric.
Always make sure the turnable can rotate freely by giving it a spin before heating your wheat bag. If your wheat bag smells burned it should not be used. Place on a non-combustible surface such as a sink or kitchen bench, and let the Wheat Bag completely cool down before discarding.
-
Wheat grain has a natural moisture content but continual heating will eventually dry this moisture out and the wheat will begin to cook and eventually burn. To prevent this it is important to keep your wheat bag or eye pillow hydrated by occasionally placing a heat proof container of water alongside the bag. Alternatively sprinkle with water before heating.
-
Yes. As the Wheat Bag is applied topically to your skin there is no concern in regards to Coeliac disease or gluten sensitivity when using a Wheat Bag.
Coeliac disease is a condition where your immune system attacks your own tissues when you eat gluten. This damages your gut (small intestine) so you are unable to take in nutrients.

The inner bag reacts with moisture from the wheat inside as it would with any fabric used. As it's made from unbleached cotton the slight discolouration is more visible than on a darker shade. We have chosen not to go with a darker or dyed fabric as it's would not be as environmentally friendly.
-

We have taken every precaution to make our product as safe to use as possible, by providing safety instructions both on the box and on the item itself. As long as these guidelines are maintained there is no cause for concern.
