Freeze your Wheat Bag to stay cool this Summer

Did you know you can freeze your Wheat Bag or Eye Pillow and use it to stay cool in the heat, as well as soothe headaches and reduce swelling? This includes puffy eyes too!

We use natural Cotswold wheat to fill our natural hot and cold packs. The wheat grains have a high moisture content, and the moisture retains both heat and cool exceptionally well.

Pop in the freezer for a minimum of 30+ min, and use as a soft cooling pack for any part of the body.

You can also store the wheat packs indefinitely in the freezer, this will in no way affect their potency - in fact it’s a great way to store them long term!

The grains freeze individually and do not lump together - the wheat bag will maintain its lovely dexterous ability to shape around any part of your body. So no, the freezer won't make your wheat bag all rigid and stiff.

A cooled Wheat Bag can be used a natural way to ease joint pain and stiffness - applying a cool compress has been proven to decrease pain by reducing swelling and inflammation. This works by reducing blood flow to a particular area and reducing nerve activity.

The iced Wheat Pack can also relieve pain, swelling, and inflammation from injuries and other conditions such as arthritis.

For headaches and migraines, try a cold Eye Pillow
Cold application is known to constrict blood vessels and help reduce the neurotransmission of pain to the brain. Instead of the brain registering pain, it registers “oh, that’s cold.”

Studies have shown that applying a cold wrap around the base of your neck at the onset of a migraine is most effective as it helps cool the blood flowing to the carotid artery in the neck. This then helps reduce the pain felt by migraines.

Puffy and dry eyes that occur in the summer are often due to allergies, tiredness and overheating. Our unscented Eye Pillow fits nicely over the eye area and temples to help to cool, soothe and reduce inflammation.

Suffering from blepharitis? Try using the eye pillow as a cool compress, the grains moulds to the shape of your eyes and offer gentle cooling.

The washable cover is made from naturally hypoallergenic linen, perfect for layering next to your sensitive skin around the eyes.

A cooled Wheat Bag around a tired, hot back or over the shoulders to help keep you cool and calm in the heat.

It's also a safe tool for during pregnancy to deal with common aches, pains and swelling.

For the hot sticky evenings you may experience in the Summer, why not cool your Eye Pillow or Wheat Bag and take to bed with you to help ease the heat. Our cool packs come unscented to give you the choice to use an essential oil that suits you or keep it natural. Our Lavender Mist spray works wonderfully with our wheat bags to encourage and aid good quality sleep.

How to cool your Wheat Bag
Store in a clean, dry, sealed container or bag in the freezer for a minumum of 30 minutes - the cover can also be frozen for ultimate cooling.

You can leave your wheat pack overnight or until you need it next - storing it in the freezer is a good way of keeping it fresh long term. Storing it in the freezer will not damage your wheat bag.

The Eco friendly option
There's a multitude of cooling packs on the market, but it is good to know that our
Wheat Bags are made entirely from natural materials and contain no nasty chemicals. Basically - they are kinder to you and the environment and are just as efficient.
